The day he turned five

Some birthdays get a cake and a song. This one got a whole afternoon.

Bhavana and Chagan walked in dressed in black, their boy in a pair of round sunglasses he wasn't taking off for anyone. Within minutes the studio was theirs. He climbed onto Dad's shoulders, stole kisses from Mum, and had a finger in the chocolate frosting before anyone could say "wait".

There were no big setups, just a warm backdrop and a family who couldn't stop laughing at each other. Five goes by so fast. We're glad we got to keep a little of it.

Five years of growing up, and he still runs back to them first.
